Karabudjan, new Spanish Antena3 series shot in Colombia
Actor Carolina Gomez fills the Colombian quota for the series’ cast
Spanish channel Antena3 is currently filming the new prime time series Karabudjan in Colombia. The series’ six 70-minute chapters are being produced by Notro Televisión for the Spanish channel and will be shot entirely on locations, first in Colombia and later in Madrid, Spain with Red One technology and cinematographic lenses for 16:9 broadcast. Dynamo Capital and locations include the Guajira province, Tayrona National Park and specific locations in Bogotá. This is the second Spanish production shot in Colombia in recent months; the first was TVE’s Operation Checkmate, currently on location in Colombia’s eastern plains region.
The story is focuses on Diego Salgado, a young executive at an important advertising agency. Although he excels in the frivolous world around him, he is tortured by a terrible secret he has been forced to hide. When his sister’s best friend disappears at Christmas, he becomes obsessed with finding her. In his search for truth he meets Paula, an unscrupulous television hostess, and Ana, the policewoman in charge of the investigation.
The series’ cast is headed up by Spanish actor Hugo Silva, returning to Spanish television following his work on the series “Los hombres de Paco”; Marta Nieto (Ana) and Colombian Carolina Gomez, who plays Paula, the TV presenter who becomes involved in a love triangle and will use everything in her power to hold on to Diego and push Ana away. Other actors include Víctor Clavijo, Héctor Colomé, Pere Brasó, Lucía Guerrero, Nazaret Aracil and Marta Guerras.
Carolina Gomez is one of Colombia’s most successful actors in recent years, well known for both her talent and beauty. She began her TV career hosting a comedy program and went on to produce and present other shows and specials broadcast in Colombia such as the Oscars, the Latin Grammies and “Anglo: a night at the Playboy Mansion”. She has starred in successful TV dramas and series broadcast throughout Latin America including “La viuda de la mafia”, “Mujeres asesinas”, “Tiempo final” and the Latin American version of “Gray’s Anatomy” (“A corazón abierto”) to be broadcast soon. She also starred in the short film “1989” with North American Vincent Gallo, a production selected for the Critic’s Week at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, and in the Colombian box office smash “Bluff” (2007), the feature film “Saluda al diablo de mi parte” (2010), the co-production “Federal” (in post-production) and in “The Chosen One” (in post-production), a US film in which she shared scenes with Steve Buscemi and Rob Schneider. She was also first runner-up at the Miss Universe pageant and has been an international spokesperson for brands such as Avon and Azaleia.
Dynamo Capital, providing the production services, is a Colombian production, financing and film consultant company. Their film credits include the feature film “Satanás” by director Andy Baiz and Camila Loboguerrero’s “Nochebuena”. They manage the Colombian-based Fondo de Capital Privado de Cine Hispanoamericano I (FCPCH I, or Hispano-American Private Film Capital Fund) whose goal is to promote investment in film projects throughout Ibero-America. Recent productions include “Rabia” by Sebastián Cordero and the Colombo-Peruvian feature “Contracorriente” by Javier Fuentes. Dynamo is currently working on post-production of David Serrano’s film “Una hora más en canarias”.
