Responsible for film-related activity in the country and for improving the quality of audiovisual language to ensure viability as an industry and guarantee longevity.  The Ministry runs many programs related to research, legislation, training, production, infrastructure, dissemination, distribution, exhibition and conservation of the film industry.

Its mission is to promote, consolidate and preserve the Colombian moving images industry.  It administers the Film Development Fund (FDC), which distributes funding to the national film sector.  It promotes Colombian films internationally and promotes the country as a destination for audiovisual production (film, TV, and spots) through the Colombian Film Commission programs.

Guarantees fiscal security of the nation and protects national economic order by administering and controlling fiscal, customs and exchange obligations, and by facilitating fair, transparent and legal foreign trade transactions.
